Buying Instagram influencer shoutouts for your Shopify store can be both profitable and also a headache. Even after closing on my second year of doing Shopify full-time, IG shoutouts are still a bit tricky for me. I’ve turned $30 promos into $300 in just a couple hours, and I’ve spent $100 to get absolutely ZERO sales. If you’ve been in the game long enough, then you surely know by now that not all influencers are created equal. Don’t worry though, I’ve made a list of some simple precautions you can take when looking for popular Instagram pages to promote your products.
Here’s a recap of the tips:
1.) Pay attention to their engagement. Generally 3-5% is good / “normal”.
2.) Too much engagement… can also be bad!
3.) Do the comments look real? Avoid accounts with one word comments. “Nice”, “cool”, “awesome” etc.. all bad!
4.) In addition to tip #3, watch out for the new scam where people ask questions like “If you like [this] type 1, if you like [this] type 2”. This is just another fake engagement trick used. Same thing goes for people only tagging their “friends”.
5.) Do the followers look real? Did they take the time to upload a profile picture, or any post pictures? Are they uploading stories etc..? Do they look real or fake?
6.) Followers may be real.. but, are they all foreign? Keep geos in mind if you want to target a certain demographic.
7.) If you find a GOOD page, use the last trick I mention in the video.
